Multi Sports Festival

Today, Bella, Aydin, Oscar, Lucas and Skye went to the St Ives Sports Centre to take part in a Multi Sports Festival hosted by the Huntingdon School Sports Partnership.

We started off playing Krazy Cones. This is where 4 coloured cones light up in sequence, you have to remember the sequence and re-light the lights. We then moved onto archery and all the children enjoyed being Robin Hood. We then played New Age Curling. This is similar to traditional curling, except the stones are on wheels instead of ice. All managed to gain brilliant scores. Then came Boccia, which is like bowls, but with soft balls. Next was Crazy Catch. This produced lots of laughter as the balls bounced off the nets as some funny angles. Oscar set the record of the day with 45 catches in 1 minute. We then played a target throwing game where several children managed to equal the highest available score of 72. Our final game was table cricket. This is played on a table tennis table with walls marked with numbers and ‘fielders’. The ball is bowled down a ramp and hit with a small cricket bat. If you hit a ‘fielder’ you are ‘caught out’, if you hit a number (2,4, or 6) you score that many runs. Lucas showed fantastic leadership during this helping some of the other children with their batting technique.

We then finished the morning off with a presentation where the children received a medal each. All the children had a fantastic morning showing some great sportsmanship and team work.
