Huntingdonshire District Large Schools Tag Rugby Competition 2019

Today, eleven Year Six children took part in the Huntingdonshire District Large Schools Tag Rugby Competition.

Our team was made up of: Ryan G, Harry B, Joshua H, Harley M, Johan T, Patrick B, Ollie W, Oscar M, Joshua L, Ella R, Alice P and Chloe B.

For some, the experience of playing rugby is something they are used to; others were playing in their first competition.

We were placed in Pool 1 of the A Team Competition.

We started out with a 3 -5 loss to Brampton Primary, with Oscar, Harley and Patrick all scoring tries.

Next came Bushmead Primary and a convincing 1 -6 victory; tries from Joshua L, Johan, Oscar and Ryan.

Our third game versus Ramsey Junior and a 1 -9 win! In that game, Harley, Johan, Patrick, Oscar, Ryan and both Joshuas were on the score sheet.

Next up were Roundhouse Primary, who beat us 7 -5 in a very close game: Joshua H, Ryan and Ollie got our tries.

Our final pool game came against Warboys Parimary and ended in a 6 -2 victory for Crosshall, with tries coming from Ryan, Patrick, Harley, Oscar and Joshua L.

As a result of our fine performances in the Pool Stage, we progressed to the 5th/6th Place Play Off, after finishing third in our pool.

In this play off game, we were drawn against Thorndown Primary. The game ended in a 3 -3 draw (Oscar and Patrick scored) and us sharing joint fifth place in the competition.

Everyone took part as team players, with excellent sporting attitude and looked to enjoy their afternoon of competition. A result of joint fifth really shows how well they played together as a team. The three girls on the team particularly played a key role in defence and frequently preventing the opposition scoring.Well done to all!

Our First Year 3/4 Girl's Football Session on #internationalwomensday

After school, we held our first Year 3/4 girl's football session run by HSSP. We had 20 girls attend, which is great news for the future of girl's football at Crosshall Junior. We received some fantastic feedback from both parents and children.
