Quad Kids Competition

This afternoon, Year Five and Year Six pupils made their way to St. Ives to take part in the Huntingdonshire Schools Sports Partnership’s Quad Kids Competition. Quad Kids is an athletics combined event, like the decathlon and heptathlon. The athletes each took part in the following four events: 600m run, 75m sprint, standing long jump, and howler throw. Each athlete’s times and distance are converted to points which accumulate to make the team’s score.

Our Team A consisted of: Elise H, Yuliia C, Amelia C, Poppy A, Leo T, David E, Charlie B, and Daniel S.

Our Team B were: Beau Z, Isabella O, Francesca L, Ava B, Callum N, Matthew H, Josh T, and Jack C.

The children battled hard in all their events, and showed great sportsmanship by cheering on their team-mates as well as athletes from other schools.

After a long and tiring day, we were rewarded with Team A finishing a fantastic first place, and Team B finishing a brilliant Third place. This is an exceptional result if we keep in mind that there was also a competition in the morning and nearly 350 children took part throughout the day. The results from both the morning and afternoon competitions were combined to give the overall results.

An extra special mention goes to Yuliia who won the individual girls’ competition.

Boys B Team Football Tournament

Today, a very chilly, but sunny Thursday saw Crosshall host the Boys B Team Football Tournament.

We welcomed teams from Bushmead, Houghton and Round House schools.

Our squad consisted of Reece, Ashley, Kai (GK), Etienne, Lukas, Lee, Zachary, Daniel, Thomas (GK), Laken and Brodie.
Crosshall 0 – 0 Bushmead
Our boys were pleased to come away with a draw in this match which was very evenly matched. Most of the first half was played in the middle of the pitch, with each team having a very near miss on goal in the second half.

Houghton 1 -1 Crosshall
Another very close match with Houghton. Ashley scored our only goal of the tournament in this match.

Round House 1 – 0 Crosshall
This again was a close match, but Round House just managed to find a gap in the first half to score.

After a play off match and penalty shoot out the final positions were:

1 Bushmead (on penalties)
2 Round House
=3 Crosshall
=3 Houghton

We would like to thank all the parents who came to support the team.

Gymnastics Competition

Today, our gymnasts just missed out on a place in the county finals, placing 3rd out of 26 teams!

Superstar gymnasts!

They all performed amazingly well and have showed a lot of resilience and dedication over the last couple of months. We were very proud of them! Well done Sahvana, Isla, Brooke, Roxy, Scarlett and Alfie (Who even travelled back from the Y3 Residential to compete!)

Boys’ A Team Football Tournament

Today was a bitterly cold and windy Thursday. However, 10 Year Six boys travelled to Westfield Junior School, St Ives, to take part in the Large Schools ‘A’ Team Football Tournament.

Our squad consisted of Harvey, Aston, Oliver, Joshua B (GK) Alex, Ollie, Mason, Joshua H, Reece & Patrick.

We only played 3 matches with mixed fortunes.

Crosshall 1 – 0 Westfield
Our first match was very fast paced and evenly matched until near the end of the first half when Aston broke through to score the only goal.

Thorndown 1 – 0 Crosshall
Joshua made an amazing save in the first half by leaping like a salmon and deflecting the ball over his cross bar.

Stukeley 2 – 0 Crosshall
This match was a tougher match, but, all the boys put up a good battle.

We would like to say thank you to all the parents who supported the team and transported the boys to and from the fixture and to Mr Hamilton who refereed, coached and team managed for the tournament.

Huntingdonshire District Large Schools Tag Rugby Competition 2019

Today, eleven Year Six children took part in the Huntingdonshire District Large Schools Tag Rugby Competition.

Our team was made up of: Ryan G, Harry B, Joshua H, Harley M, Johan T, Patrick B, Ollie W, Oscar M, Joshua L, Ella R, Alice P and Chloe B.

For some, the experience of playing rugby is something they are used to; others were playing in their first competition.

We were placed in Pool 1 of the A Team Competition.

We started out with a 3 -5 loss to Brampton Primary, with Oscar, Harley and Patrick all scoring tries.

Next came Bushmead Primary and a convincing 1 -6 victory; tries from Joshua L, Johan, Oscar and Ryan.

Our third game versus Ramsey Junior and a 1 -9 win! In that game, Harley, Johan, Patrick, Oscar, Ryan and both Joshuas were on the score sheet.

Next up were Roundhouse Primary, who beat us 7 -5 in a very close game: Joshua H, Ryan and Ollie got our tries.

Our final pool game came against Warboys Parimary and ended in a 6 -2 victory for Crosshall, with tries coming from Ryan, Patrick, Harley, Oscar and Joshua L.

As a result of our fine performances in the Pool Stage, we progressed to the 5th/6th Place Play Off, after finishing third in our pool.

In this play off game, we were drawn against Thorndown Primary. The game ended in a 3 -3 draw (Oscar and Patrick scored) and us sharing joint fifth place in the competition.

Everyone took part as team players, with excellent sporting attitude and looked to enjoy their afternoon of competition. A result of joint fifth really shows how well they played together as a team. The three girls on the team particularly played a key role in defence and frequently preventing the opposition scoring.Well done to all!

Our First Year 3/4 Girl's Football Session on #internationalwomensday

After school, we held our first Year 3/4 girl's football session run by HSSP. We had 20 girls attend, which is great news for the future of girl's football at Crosshall Junior. We received some fantastic feedback from both parents and children.
