Our football team took part in a tournament at Bushmead Primary School. The team played expertly, finishing second and winning the final match 4-0!

Walters Cup Quarter Final

 Congratulations to the Year Five football team for their participation in the Walters Cup Quarter Final. They were victorious!

Boys B Team Football Tournament

Today, a very chilly, but sunny Thursday saw Crosshall host the Boys B Team Football Tournament.

We welcomed teams from Bushmead, Houghton and Round House schools.

Our squad consisted of Reece, Ashley, Kai (GK), Etienne, Lukas, Lee, Zachary, Daniel, Thomas (GK), Laken and Brodie.

Crosshall 0 – 0 Bushmead
Our boys were pleased to come away with a draw in this match which was very evenly matched. Most of the first half was played in the middle of the pitch, with each team having a very near miss on goal in the second half.


Houghton 1 -1 Crosshall
Another very close match with Houghton. Ashley scored our only goal of the tournament in this match.


Round House 1 – 0 Crosshall
This again was a close match, but Round House just managed to find a gap in the first half to score.


After a play off match and penalty shoot out the final positions were:

1 Bushmead (on penalties)
2 Round House
=3 Crosshall
=3 Houghton

Boys’ A Team Football Tournament

Today was a bitterly cold and windy Thursday. However, 10 Year Six boys travelled to Westfield Junior School, St Ives, to take part in the Large Schools ‘A’ Team Football Tournament. 

Our squad consisted of Harvey, Aston, Oliver, Joshua B (GK) Alex, Ollie, Mason, Joshua H, Reece & Patrick. 

We only played 3 matches with mixed fortunes. 

Crosshall 1 – 0 Westfield

Our first match was very fast paced and evenly matched until near the end of the first half when Aston broke through to score the only goal. 

Thorndown 1 – 0 Crosshall

Joshua made an amazing save in the first half by leaping like a salmon and deflecting the ball over his cross bar. 

Stukeley 2 – 0 Crosshall

This match was a tougher match, but, all the boys put up a good battle. 

We would like to say thank you to all the parents who supported the team and transported the boys to and from the fixture and to Mr Hamilton who refereed, coached and team managed for the tournament. 

Walter’s Cup - Year 5 Boy's Football

Crosshall 4 – 1 Winhills

A grey and damp afternoon, today, saw nine Year Five boys take to our muddy football pitch to host Winhills in the Walter’s Cup. Our team consisted of Sidney, Connor, Joban, Isaac (GK), Lucas, Joshua, Jamie, Thomas and Jack.

The first half saw many attempts on Winhills’ goal but with no success. Isaac managed to deflect several shots from the Winhills’ strikers. In the dying seconds of the first half, Connor opened our scoring. At the end of the first half, the score stood at Crosshall 1 – 0 Winhills.

The second half saw Crosshall have many more successful attempts on Winhills’ goal. Connor scored his second goal followed by Lucas and Joban scoring our forth and final goal. Isaac was tested more in the second half but was only beaten once by Winhills.

Considering the team were a mixture of boys who play for local teams and boys who do not, this was a phenomenal result.

We would like to thank all the parents who came and supported the team and the Hinchingbrooke Sports Leaders who refereed the match.

B Team Football Tournament

Today, Crosshall hosted a B Team Football Tournament attended by Bushmead, Godmanchester and Round House.  Rain was forecast, but, held off to give us bright sunny afternoon.   

Our team consisted of 10 Year 5s; Brodie D, Nathan K, Rylie J, Daniel P, Leo D, Vinnie B, Ashley E, Kai T, Laken W and Lee P.  

All boys played brilliantly as a team coming away victorious.

Crosshall 2 – 0 Bushmead

Vinnie opened our scoring with a penalty and Leo followed up with the second goal.  The whole match was played in Bushmead’s half.

Crosshall 1 - 0 Godmanchester

Daniel scored the only goal in this match with a fantastic strike which caught the Godmanchester goalkeeper unaware.

Crosshall 0 – 0 Roundhouse

This was our toughest match of the tournament with both teams having many chances, but neither side being able to break the deadlock.

Final placings:

1^st  Crosshall           7 points  3 goals

2^nd Bushmead         4 points  2 goals

2^nd Round House    4 points  2 goals

4^th Godmanchester 1 points  0 goals

Girls Football A Team Win Hunts School Sports Partnership Tournament!

Such a fantastic day and the girls showed amazing team work and determination.  

B Team Football Tournament Success

Our First Year 3/4 Girl's Football Session on #internationalwomensday

After school, we held our first Year 3/4 girl's football session run by HSSP. We had 20 girls attend, which is great news for the future of girl's football at Crosshall Junior. We received some fantastic feedback from both parents and children.

Girl's Footballing Victory!

Our Girl's Football Team notched up an impressive eight goals versus Hartford today. They played with both skill and positive sporting behaviour. We appreciated our visiting Sports Leader Referees too. 

B Team Football Tournament

Today, Crosshall hosted the Hunts District Primary Schools FA Group C, B Team Tournament. The visiting teams were Winhills, Middlefield, Huntingdon and Buckden. 

The Crosshall Team was made up of a mixture of Year Fives and Sixes; Aston D, Joshua B, Ewan B, Ryan G, Alex A, Will G, Willow B (GK), Barney C, Kye F, Charlie B and Daniel B. 

The team put up a great performance to finish third.

Crosshall 0–2 Winhills

Our first match was against Winhills. We kicked off the match and fought hard against the skills of Winhills. Unfortunately, they were a little too strong for us.

Crosshall 1–0 Buckden

The second match was against Buckden. We had several attempts on their goal and eventually Aston broke through to score the only goal of the match. 

Crosshall 0–0 Middefield

Our third match was against Middlefield. This was a tough, but equally matched, game with both teams having many attempts on goal, but nobody could break the deadlock.

Crosshall 0–0 Huntingdon

Our fourth and final match was against Huntingdon. Again, this was another close match with both teams having several attempts at goal but none were successful.

The team displayed the Crosshall Values during the whole tournament and played fantastically.

YEAR FIVE & SIX GIRLS FOOTBALL TEAM

Congratulations to the Year Five and Six Girls Football Teams (A and B Team) who came in second place at the Hunts School Sports Partnership and FA Girls Football Competition!

B Team Football Finals

Today saw 9 Year 5 footballers travel to Stukeley Meadows to compete in the B Team Football Finals. 

Our team of Alfie W, Francesca H, Sam T, Alfie W, Tom S, Ryan B, Elliott B, George and Matthew P (GK) faced tough competition from Stukeley, Brampton and Westfield schools. It was a tough afternoon, not only was there a bitter wind, but, the pitch was very muddy and undulating. 

Our 1st match was against Westfield:

Westfield 2 – 0 Crosshall

Westfield kicked off the 1st half scoring 1 goal. We kicked off the 2nd half and Westfield scored again. Crosshall spent most of this matched pinned in their half, but, defended brilliantly. 

Brampton 2 – 0 Crosshall

Brampton kicked off our 2nd match scoring a goal in each half. Crosshall again defended brilliantly and Brampton had to work really hard to break down our defences. 

Stukeley 0 – 0 Crosshall

We kicked off this final match which was evenly balanced. Both teams had numerus attempts on goal, but, both goal keepers stood firm and kept clean sheets.

1 Westfield 9 points

2 Stukeley 4 points

3 Brampton 3 points

4 Crosshall 1 Point

B Team Football Tournament - Victory for Crosshall!

Our first B Team Tournament of the season saw a team of nine Year Five pupils take on teams from Winhills, Priory and Middlefield at home.

The team consisted of George & Matthew P, Francesca H, Sam T, Alfie W, Alfie W, Tom S, Ryan B and Elliott B.


Crosshall 0 – 1 Winhills

Our 1st match saw Alfie W take on the goal keeping duties, keeping a clean sheet until the last minutes, when Winhills scored an unbelievably luck goal. Matthew and Ryan both had near misses on goal.


Crosshall 2 – 0 Priory


In the 2nd match Alfie and Matthew swapped goal keeping duties. We dominated this match having numerous attempts on goal during both halves. Francesca opened the scoring in the 1st half, backed up by Elliot scoring the 2nd goal in the 2nd half.


Crosshall 2- 0 Middlefield


Matthew continued with strong goal keeping duties in our 3rd and final match keeping a clean sheet. Again, we had the most possession with numerous attempts on goal. Elliot scored both goals in this match – one in each half.


We had to wait until the end of the final match (Winhills V Priory) to find out if we had won as we were currently tying for 1st place with Priory. Priory needed to beat Winhills by 2 goals to win. The final score was Winhills 0 – 1 Priory. We had won on goal difference!


The team now go through to the B Team Finals later in the season.

Tough Tournament for the Football B Team

Today saw nine Year Six boys make the journey to Brampton Primary school for the Large Schools B Team Football Tournament.  We were up against teams from Hartford, Godmanchester, Brampton and Huntingdon.   

The team consisted of Adam W (goal keeper), Edward L, George P, George A, Tylah P, Ethan S, Jordan L, Henry W and Samuel K.  

The first match was against Godmanchester.  The boys started nervously, but, Crosshall had several attempts on Godmanchester’s goal.  Samuel scored the only goal of the match giving Crosshall a 1-0 win.

In the second match against Hartford, the boys had settled down and the nerves of the first match seemed to have disappeared.  Even though this game finished in a 1-1 draw, it was the most exciting game of the tournament with the play spending equal time in each other’s half of the pitch and many attempts on both goals keeping the goal keepers very busy. With minutes of the 2^nd half to go, Samuel scored his second goal of the tournament, only to have Hartford equalise on the whistle of full time.

The third match against Brampton ended in a 0-0 draw.  During the 1^st half, Adam made two fantastic saves that prevented Brampton from winning this match.

Match four was against Huntingdon.  This match produced the best result for the Crosshall boys, who dominated the match, with a 2-0 win.  Both goals again came from Samuel in the first half.

Final league positions were:

1      Hartford               10 points

2      Crosshall                 8 points

3      Brampton              7 points

4      Godmanchester    3 points

5      Huntingdon           0 points

Crosshall Win First Football Tournament of the Season

Today saw the first football tournament of the season at Crosshall.  We were up against teams from Hartford, Priory, Brampton and Huntingdon schools in the Large Schools ‘A’ Team Tournament. The team consisted of Robbie W, Jacob W, Ben H-P, Jakob G, Luke A, Junior H, Tom H, Bradley Y and Alex B in goal.

The first match saw Crosshall take on Hartford in a thrilling 2 – 0 win.  Hartford kicked off the first half and Junior opened the scoring.  Hartford earned a penalty which was expertly saved by Alex.  In the second half, Robbie scored the second goal giving Crosshall a comfortable win.

The second match saw the boys take on Huntingdon in which was probably the most exciting match of the afternoon.  The boys again came away with a 0-1 win. Both goal keepers were kept busy with numerous attempts on their goals.  The goal in this match came from Robbie. There was a pause in proceedings as Mr Henson had to go under the hedge to retrieve the ball!  Alex prevented this game from ending in a draw with a fantastic save right on the whistle of full time.

The third match was against Priory ending in a 0-0 draw. This was quite a quiet game and neither goal keeper was troubled much.

The final game was against Brampton and again finished in a 0-0 draw.  Although this match ended in a draw, most of the play took place in Brampton’s half.  Despite relentless attacking from Crosshall, the Brampton goal keeper stood firm.  Despite many near misses Crosshall could not break the deadlock.

Final league positions were:

1      Crosshall          8 points

2      Huntingdon       6 points (goal difference)

3      Brampton          6 points

4      Priory                5 points

5      Hartford            1 point

Crosshall now have to wait to hear who won the other Large Schools tournament.
