Today, our gymnasts just missed out on a place in the county finals, placing 3rd out of 26 teams! 

Superstar gymnasts! 

They all performed amazingly well and have showed a lot of resilience and dedication over the last couple of months. We were very proud of them! Well done Sahvana, Isla, Brooke, Roxy, Scarlett and Alfie (Who even travelled back from the Y3 Residential to compete!)

Second Place for Lower School Gymnastics Team

Level Three School Games Gymnastics Final

Today, six children from across the school represented Huntingdonshire schools in the Level Three School Games Gymnastics Final held at Huntingdon Gymnasium. After their success at the Level Two Competition, securing a top two finish out of twenty one teams, Crosshall gymnasts were keen to practise ahead of the final and put in hours of work at home and at school. 

Children attended an opening ceremony at St. Ives Indoor Centre and were able to be a part of celebrating the School Games Competition with other schools from across the county. Children heard a motivational speech from Henni Goya, English professional golfer, who spoke about her top tips for performing at your best and about her work as a Sky News presenter.

After the opening ceremony, competitors were dispersed to their locations to compete. Crosshall Junior School children, representing Huntingdonshire schools, turned up in high spirits in their bright pink School Games t-shirts. The children were nervous, but excited to perform against ten other schools. 

Holly, Alice and Sid demonstrated their floor routine excellently and displayed tremendous sportsmanship throughout. Jessica, Kasia and Sophia competed in the body management routine competition with outstanding gymnastic technique and determination. All children participated in performing a vault for the judges, to which they were commended on their performances. The competition was extremely competitive with all children performing at an extremely high level. 

After all rotations had been completed, children were encouraged to participate in some fun games. While waiting, we were able to interview Henni Goya about her successes and ask her some very important questions. She was a great School Games ambassador and even gave us her signature!

Children had a final surprise as Louis Smith turned up to train at the gym. At the end of the competition, Louis Smith kindly allowed the children to take photographs with him and ask a few questions. All of our competitors were in awe of meeting an Olympic gymnast! 

The team finished in 7th place and were excited to receive their certificates. Miss Howell and Mrs Flowers would like to praise the children on their behaviour and outstanding efforts throughout. 

The children had an invaluable experience in performing in such a fantastic facility and had the opportunity to meet some influential athletes too! Sophia said, "I am really grateful for the opportunity to perform this routine. We have worked so hard to learn in front of so many people."  Holly excitedly said, "I will never forget this experience!"

We would like to thank staff, parents and carers for their support. The competition provided children with many new skills and a chance to demonstrate the School Games' core values. We are looking forward to competing again next year!
